The Career Development Track
Spacer

Students who are not accepted into an Associate Degree program may take courses through Continuing Education or may apply to the Career Development Track.

The Career Development Track is designed to provide students with the academic and personal support necessary to develop the reading, writing, mathematics and critical thinking skills so essential for success not only in college level courses but also in most careers.

The program assists in preparing and encouraging a greater number of students to succeed in college level courses. The program consists of the following courses:

CDT 100E and CDT 101E
These courses are designed to develop skills in reading and in composition writing. Emphasis is on reading and writing paragraphs with attention given to revision and proofreading. Additional work in the Barone Learning Resource Center is required.

Exit criteria: "C" or better as well as instructor recommendation. All students are required to take the Computerized Placement Test (CPT) before and after the course.

Three hours required on campus weekly – 3 institutional credits, non-transferrable, for each course.

CDT 100M and CDT 101M
These courses are designed to review basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of signed numbers and applications.

A review of elementary algebra, including topics addressing algebraic symbolism, operations, linear equations, exponents, and factoring are also covered. Additional work in the Barone Learning Resource Center is required.

Exit criteria: "C" or better as well as instructor recommendation. All students are required to take the Computerized Placement Test (CPT) before and after the course.

Three hours required on campus weekly – 3 institutional credits; non-transferrable, for each course.

Financial Aid for the Multi-Skilled Assistant and Medical Assisting Certificate Programs and Career Development Track

Multi-Skilled Assistant, Medical Assisting and Career Development Track students may be eligible for institutional grants and loans. Students are required to submit a FAFSA form with signed copies of their Tax Returns a minimum of one month prior to the start of the program.
