This course is designed to give students the information and skills necessary to succeed in college. Students learn about the academic environment and develop academic and interpersonal skills. This is accomplished through the investigation and practice of time management, stress management, writing, and research skills. The course incorporates policies and procedures of the College, advisement procedures, and information relating to the College's resources and student services. It utilizes an active learning format and group discussion activities. Students are exempt from FYS if they have earned a minimum of 24 college credits at another institution and/or have taken a similar course at that institution. Students must satisfactorily complete First Year Seminar during their first semester at the college or they will not be permitted to register for the following semester. Students are not allowed to repeat the First Year Seminar Course. |
