These databases have been subscribed to on a yearly basis by the College for access to the journal articles packaged by a vendor, such as Ovid. The journals and articles within have been pre-selected by the vendor’s professional readers to ensure that the databases’ users will be researching top-quality scholarly, trade and general news journals.
iConn database
iCONN is part of the Connecticut Education Network. It provides all students, faculty and residents with online access to essential library and information resources. It is administered by the Connecticut State Library in conjunction with the Department of Higher Education. Through iCONN, a core level of information resources including secured access to licensed databases is available to every citizen in Connecticut. In addition, specialized research information is available to college students and faculty. To access iConn, you need to input the barcode number issued by the librarian during the first term. Ovid database
Ovid is a part of Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading provider of information and business intelligence for students, professionals and institutions in medicine, nursing, allied health and pharmacy. To access the Ovid Database, please refer to the user I.D. and password information for this database in the library orientation manual. This is also issued by the librarian during the first term. CINAHL
Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health includes nursing and allied health articles from worldwide, scientific literature presented for the needs of health professionals. Provides articles about nursing, allied health, biomedical, consumer health journals, and publications of the American Nurses Association and the National League for Nursing. Includes healthcare books, nursing dissertations, and standards of professional practice, nurse practice acts and educational software. Nursing Reference Center
Nursing Reference Center (NRC) is a comprehensive reference tool designed to provide relevant clinical resources to nurses and other healthcare professionals, directly at the point-of-care. This is accessed through the St. Vincent’s College’s campus portal.
Ebrary
Ebrary is an e-book database from ebrary that covers all academic subject areas. The collection currently includes more than 38,000 e-book titles from more than 220 academic, STM, and professional publishers. Academic Complete also includes 8 separate databases in business, marketing and economics; humanities; life and physical science; medical sciences; computers and information technology; engineering and technology; social and behavioral sciences; education; and reference and maps.
