The Spirit of Giving Back – Giving Tree Collection for Two Bridgeport Elementary Schools
Each year St. Vincent’s College puts up a “Giving Tree” in the lobby of the main entrance. The giving tree is a Christmas tree filled with giving tags representing items staff, faculty and students can donate to a local charity, community or school in need. This year the beneficiary of the Giving Tree was Read School and Cesar Batalla School both located in Bridgeport.
Over 200 items were collected for the students in the Backpack Program at Read School including school supplies, art supplies, beginner chapter books, play-doh, board games, card games and puzzles. Over 100 stuffed animals were collected for the Kindergarten students at Cesar Batalla School.
Thank you everyone who donated to the St. Vincent’s College Giving Tree this year and made the holidays just a little brighter for so many children in our community.
Throughout the fall semester St. Vincent’s College students, staff and faculty continued to the live out the College mission by giving back to the less fortunate. During this holiday season we will celebrate this “Spirit of Giving Back” by sharing different stories about our community service efforts.
