The gift of lifelong friendship and a commitment to the field of nursing have come together in a new scholarship to help St. Vincent’s College students purchase textbooks. St. Vincent’s College is pleased to announce the establishment of the Sheila Curtiss Otis Memorial Book Fund. Mrs. Otis was a graduate of the St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1956 who died on December 12, 2007. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Vincent’s Medical Center and later at Northbridge Health Care. She was also an active volunteer at the Medical Center. A devoted friend, Mrs. Frances Esposito (Class of 1965), and her husband Felix have made an initial donation to St. Vincent’s College to seed this fund. The rising cost of college textbooks has added another burden to students financing their education. The establishment of a memorial book fund is a fitting tribute to Mrs. Otis and the generosity of her dear friend, Frances Esposito. We hope that it can serve to perpetuate the memory of a fine nurse and alumni of St. Vincent’s. Memorial contributions from other alumni and friends can be made to St. Vincent’s College, 2800 Main Street, Bridgeport, CT 06606. For further information, please call 203.576.6355. |
