Healthcare Reimbursement Specialist

The Healthcare Reimbursement Specialists are critical to healthcare organizations because of their impact on revenues.  Hospitals and medical providers report coded data to third party payers in order to receive reimbursement.  Healthcare Reimbursement Specialists use medical coding techniques to process insurance and billing forms and documents. 

Positions are available in doctors’ offices, hospitals, pharmacies, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, insurance companies, accounting offices, legal offices, and consulting firms.  The 15 credit program affords students the skills in the health insurance field through courses in coding, insurance reimbursement & billing, computerized practice management and medical terminology.

Program Courses

The 15-credit certificate program is offered through evening scheduling, giving students the ability to take courses while continuing their present employment. Student must complete the following five courses to receive the certificate. Courses may be taken individually, if a certificate is not desired.
